I had my telephone consultation with her today and I told her all about the book by Dr Myhill.
She had already seen some of the research that shows that the source of CFS/Fibro is due to mitochondrial failure and she agrees it makes sense.
I explained about the sleep side of things and how I am still struggling and the minute I told her about my psychotherapy starting this week she said that without a doubt I need to be rested for that.
She has prescribed two weeks of higher strength zopiclone for me!! Thank the Starry Skies!!!
So I now have a chance to get a normal sleeping pattern going again.
I came off the phone and just burst into tears of relief. My brain has been wittering about the call, and I fully expected to be turned down. The tears were just sheer relief.
I was very, very down yesterday, but I have that sense of hope back again 🙂
My GP stressed again that they cannot prescribe it long term. But she is going to buy the book. I can only hope that what she reads will influence a change in that current policy.
I am really, seriously looking forward to some proper, decent healing sleep tonight.
I love hearing that GP’s listen to their patients and are receptive to new ideas from others… Good for you….

It is certainly true that not all GP’s are as good. I have been through a fair few of the idiots LOL.

Wonderful! I am amazed that your GP prescribed stronger sleeping aids and absolutely astounded that she’s going to be buy the book. She certainly is a star! Sleep well!

This one GP is my dr of choice at the practice. She listened over the vitamin d a few years ago, and now they test routinely for it. I think her hands are pretty tied with the zopiclone generally, but there was a justifiable reason here. I think if I didn’t have my therapy appointment tomorrow, it might have been different.

I am so happy your GP listened to you and ecstatic for you that you have some help for sleep – I am hoping to have the same two results when I see my GP at the end of the week. I have been thinking a lot about you and the stresses you are under about appointments – I know them well. I have been reading the book every chance I get and making notes for my doctor. I hope she is as receptive as yours. Big {{{{{hugs}}}}} and sweet dreams my friend! :-).
