I know I am not the only one having problems with the reader not showing all the posts from blogs that I follow.
I know this because I see people discussing it around and about. I know because people have told me.
I know a few people went and commented on the thread I started on the forum https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/reader-not-showing-new-posts-from-blogs-i-follow?replies=42
But it seems that WordPress are drawing a blank, as each link I give them to posts I discovered had been missing, are showing up when WordPress uses my blog to look for them.
I know CC has been back to the forum and stated that she is still having problems, but WordPress seem to be suggesting that its due to the number of blogs I follow, and that I am not scrolling back far enough, which is absurd because 9 times out of 10 I scroll back to the last post I ‘liked’ as that’s the way I know where I left off.
Problems I am having:
Not all new posts are showing up in my reader.
Some are showing on my mobile reader, and not on the internet one, and vice versa.
Some blogs I follow are only showing up under tag searches.
If you are also experiencing any of these problems – Please, pliz pliz pliz…..go to the link above and add your voice – provide links, or start a new thread, or this problem could remain unresolved.
Those of you who originally posted – please let WordPress know if the problem is still occuring or not, as the fact you havent returned to the thread does imply you are no longer having issues.
If we don’t speak up, they don’t know. So please take a few minutes and lets try and get the reader function that we all depend on in so many ways, working as it should again.
Thank you

The reader should show you all the newest posts by blogs you follow since you last used it. And your posts should show up in the reader of your followers. But it doesnt seem to be happening as it should 😦

I must confess to being one of a hardy and (no doubt) small band of people who prefer to subscribe by email rather than using the Reader. Your post makes me even less inclined to use the Reader, although the problem with email subscriptions is that one’s inbox quickly gets cluttered! Kevin

The cluttered inbox is the main reason I dont subscribe by email LOL
When it works properly, the Reader is brilliant, and one of the big benefits of WP, in my opinion, but when it doesnt work properly…..it needs fixing 😀

My in box is driving me crazy -even with once a week notices. But I’m afraid to not do email subscriptions as Reader has become so unreliable. Many people have been commenting on this problem for months.
Went over and left them a comment. Thanks for the link.
(FYI people need to return and comment again if there’s a continuing issue – there was a statement about how they didn’t know whether the blogger fixed it or not as people rarely returned to let them know one way or the other…)

I find Reader overwhelming. There’s blogs and other info I don’t subscribe to which is a waste of my time.

I agree that if they are putting other things onto our reader at the expense of posts from the blogs we follow, it’s not fair. Especially if its in a promotional sense, encouraging us to follow more blogs, when the suggestion has been made that a couple of us with this issue only have it because we follow so many blogs

But the bottom line is, you only want to read the posts you are subscribed to. We all know we take on too many and have to scramble to keep up. STAY out of my subscriptions! ❤ ❤

My problems are mostly blogs I don’t follow I see in reader ~ I have to hunt for blogs I follow; and, blogs I block still show up in reader. I don’t like that.
LikeLiked by 2 people
We shouldn’t have to hunt for blogs we follow. I can understand the random publicity of blogs we ‘might’ be interested in showing up, but not if it’s at the expense of ones we already follow. Plus – if the number of blogs we follow is an issue to the effective workings of the reader – why do they encourage us to follow more blogs that way? It doesn’t make sense, does it?

I am having the following issues:
-My Reader is NOT showing me all of the posts of the blogs I follow,
-I notice that some followers are un-followed and then re-follow. This also happens with me. I will think I am following and then notice I am no longer ‘following” when I have not “un-followed”.
-I do not always get all of my Notifications.
This frustrates me. I did try the WP suggestions and they have not resolved my issues. Moongazer has worked very hard at giving them links. I have given links once and then returned to let them know my issues have not resolved. If any of you are having these issues, please consider going to the link provided and let them know what issues you are having and reblogging Moongazer’s post. Thank you.

I’ve long noticed that the Reader shows far less posts when I use my Android phone. No idea why.

Would you add your comment to the forum thread? It will help, I think, if they see more people are actually having problems.

My thought is, and I apologize if someone said this already, that WordPress probably uses an algorithm or system whereby the posts that are getting the most action, likes and comments, appear higher in the reader list.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hi, I did wonder about that. Facebook have something like that, I think. But the WP reader seems to work on a time order, thank the starry skies.
You might want to ask on the forums if you are concerned about that, though.

I’m more concerned about when I follow someone and then after awhile I notice I’m not seeing their posts and I discover that somehow I’m no longer following even though I didn’t do anything

Yes, I have had that happen too. Have you raised it on the forum? I’d be happy to add my voice if you want to let me have the link 🙂

I gave up on using the WordPress reader months ago, because of the very same reasons.
I have now selected to have an email sent to me everytime a new post is published on a blog I follow. OK, that can mean getting a huge amount of emails, but its works and I’m now not missing any posts.
One thing I did discover recently is that posts where there is a hashtag in the title, do not always appear in the WordPress reader. I’ve stopped using hashtags in any post titles now.

That’s useful to know, thank you 🙂 I posted an update today – they spoke to the developers at last and they are working on a fix – so fingers crossed.

First – thank you for this post.
Second – I’m not a member of whatever you need to be to post/comment/like at the link you provided, so I can’t support you there, which is why I’ll tell you here:
WordPress suggestion that its due to the number of blogs you follow doesn’t explain how someone like me (I follow only 14 blogs so far) is encountering the same posts-missing-from-reader phenomena. And I check it at least twice a day… (between which I actually shut my PC down).
The only other thing I can add is that I “solved” this problem by setting the notification of new posts by email. That way I can check whether the reader works or not. And the funniest (to me) is that on average only half or so of posts by WP’s Daily Post show on my reader…

Wow! That’s a really high proportion!! I follow about 270 so emails would be a bit of a nightmare for me.
It does only take a minute to register on the support forum, but would you mind if I copied and pasted your comment to the thread there? I do think they should be aware of the numbers.
Thank you for adding your voice here 🙂

The way I understood it (and maybe I’m wrong), anything support-like on WP, is open to those who upgraded to Premium…
However of course I don’t mind you pasting the info 🙂 If I can help – I’m glad for the opportunity.
I can very well imagine the nightmare of 270 follows by email, WP and bloggers together have but to gain by co-operation 🙂

There is a support section for the .org that you have to have the paid for version of WP but there is also a support section for the freebie side of things. The link takes you to my thread in the freebie area as I don’t have the premium version blog 🙂

Hi 🙂
I just went through most of your thread (and wow! what a body of work you did there!).
I got the impression that they have enough data and didn’t feel like drawing their attention from it so, though I discovered I could comment, I held back this time.
But thanks again for introducing me to the tech. side I missed 🙂
(though I will heed your advice: if you think my info can help them let me know).
