I am sitting outside in my garden, enjoying the coolness of the evening after another roasting hot day and I thought I would share this little view of one corner of my garden with you.
I’m not sure why I like this particular view so much, but I do. Maybe it harks back to childhood and stories about walled gardens that I used to read. Stories that inspired the imagination. Tom’s Midnight Garden and The Secret Garden come to mind.
Anyway, here’s the view 🙂

You’re right. That is a soothing wall: texture, color, pattern, strong, supportive. A shield and comfort with being so solid. Being outdoor is healing

😀 The day after I took the pic my Littlun and her other half added a water butt to the shed in the corner by this wall but it hasn’t detracted from the view’s appeal at all. I was worried it might, but I think it just adds the ‘personality’ factor. I am sure some people must think me very strange lol 🙂

Oh, how I would love to sit there with you! It is beautiful. My Mom had butterflies on the side of her house as well and I think you can tell by my avatar that I love them! It is very hot here and I am inside doing some odd chores and trying to keep the pain levels at a manageable level (so far I am succeeding). I am so glad you have such a peaceful place to sit and relax! {{{{{hugs}}}}} to you!

I love butterflies too. These were a present from a very dear friend. My basket hangers have butterflies on them as well and this last week Littlun came home with some full hanging baskets for them 🙂

Thank you 🙂 So many gardens have low walls or fences – for the sense of space, I suppose, but I do like the sense of seclusion from higher boundaries. I could be wrong here, but I believe the walled gardens at the old manor houses and stately homes were built as vegetable and fruit ‘kitchen gardens’ with the high walls providing both protection for the crops and a way of hiding them from view of both visitors and potential hungry thieves.

I never thought about it before but that makes sense! Our fences here are boring: six feet tall and made of wood planks. I guess it makes sense that everything is built of wood here because of all the trees but it’s so boring. I’m fascinated with all the stone houses and walls that are found in other parts of the world.

Thank you 🙂 It was nice 🙂 The back of our house is South facing so in summer it can be absolutely roasting out there. Thankfully the wall provides much needed shade.
