Unexpected Indoor Fireworks………A Cautionary Tale!

As you know, I am a vaper. I gave up smoking over a year ago by using “e-cigarettes”. For those of you unfamiliar with these, you have a tank that you fill
with flavoured nicotine solution (e-liquid). You attach the tank to a battery so you can vapourise the e-liquid.

I call this vaping device my sucky stick, which has got me one or two strange looks when overheard by strangers o_O

Now then, occasionally (usually when the wick part inside the tank is about to burn out) you get a collection of liquid in the inner tube of the tank that is too much to be vapourised. You might hear a gurgling noise, or it just gets harder to suck and less vapour is produced.

You can get rid of this excess by tightly folding up the corner of a tissue and pushing it gently inside the tube OR you can give the whole thing a flick with your wrist. Just make sure you aim it away from people, pets etc.

Well, a few nights ago, I did the flick thing, aiming for my bath towel that was on the floor to go in the washing basket. I don’t flick very often – usually only if I am outside and far from a tissue.

However, I will never, ever flick my sucky stick again.

The tank…..and the part that screws into it flew off the main body of the battery so it looked like this.

Hmmmm…….not good!!

That wasn’t the worst of it. Littlun came in to say goodnight and picked the broken battery up to look at it. Whereupon it began to spark, sizzle and smoke in her hand =-O

We both shrieked and Littlun ran from the room and flung it in the bathroom sink while I shouted for my Son-in-law-to-be. It was a shameful display of being a pathetic girlie, but hey….we was freaked lol

The man of the house (who needs rescuing from spiders btw) went in search of a rubber glove and a metal container. (During the search he discovered a forgotten about tin of choccies from xmas. Still in date….yay!!) And the unexpected indoor firework spent the night outside in a sealed tin.

Actually, its still there. We are waiting until the battery goes flat before disposing of it sensibly….just in case.

So folks….if your sucky stick gets too gooey, DO NOT FLICK IT! Be gentle and use a tissue. And if it falls apart in your hands….be aware…..them things can be explosive!!

ps….any innuendo you might detect – I do not apologise for 😛

So your next major step is to give up the e-cigarette, probably safer in long run, haven’t some people been burnt/killed by e-cigs ? 🙂

what a bout nibbling a carrot or something, probably tastes different though.

In a year I have reduced my nicotine from 30mgs to 18mgs, so I think I’m doing pretty well, all things considered.
I would imagine more people have been killed or hurt by thins everyone does every single day than by e-cigs, pd. And compared to smoking tobacco…..there is just no comparison. So :p

That’s pretty scary! I can’t tel you how many times I’ve found myself in a position of an almost exploding mod. They can be really finicky especially if you have a mechanical mod that takes a separate battery. The best trick in the book is regular maintenance, oddly enough I never though about cleaning them regularly but its the best way to insure that nothing is getting too gunky to cause friction with the power the batter supplies. My new set up the istick30 with the aspire Atlantis tank has been the best so far, no gunking and no over heating, and the best of sub-ohm vaping. Best of luck, and keep safe.

I agree, keeping things clean is definitely the best way. This is the first time anything like this has ever happened.
I have heard about the istick30. That’s a square shaped one, isn’t it? Not sure how I would get on with the shape, to be honest. Oh, and really showing my ignorance here – what is sub-ohm vaping? I am sure you can tell by my post I’m not too good with the technical terms LOL

LOL I used to be scared of spiders, but having children who were also freaked out by them soon got rid of my phobia 🙂

LOL when I see a spider I still shiver and scream, even if I need to be brave and rescue the kids. Last summer I had to kill a big spider and as soon as I smashed it a myriad of small white spiders came out of it running in all directions. One of the scariest moments in all my life.
Btw I am a vaper myself.
        Cheers, HC

Oh Ye Gods!! That would have definitely freaked me out too. I am shivering here just thinking about it. Things are clenching – like my toes LOL
Yay – a fellow vaper 🙂 What’s your favourite flavour? Mine are currently strawberry, and marshmallow 🙂

Currently melon and custard. But I am a big fan of Halo’s Captain Jack, Tribeca and Midnight Apple 😉

Midnight apple sounds nice 🙂 I have a sample of egg custard waiting for me to try, but I haven’t been in the mood for it yet lol
I am still waiting for someone to bring out a cadbury’s dairy milk flavour that actually tastes like chocolate 😀

  4. That’s kind of scary! My partner vapes and takes it quite seriously – I will have to be on the lookout for sparks!

My dad uses one of these! Best tell him to control his flicks! I’ve seen so much bad press about these vapour pens recently, but if they help I have nothing against them! 🙂

I couldn’t give up smoking any other way, and I had tried just about everything over the years. Including cold turkey, which made the girls beg me to start again as I became a shrieking harridan LOL
There might be bad press, but compare those stories to the effects of smoking cigarettes – there is no comparison really. Plus the govt doesn’t profit from it, so they were never going to be in favour lol
