Yep, sock number 1 is completed ๐ย I am so pleased with how it’s turned out, and now hoping the second one turns out just as well, so that I don’t end up with mis-matched tootsies ๐
But also, of course, because I am going to be creating the tutorial with the second one. I adapted the toe from the instructions that came with the loom, because I didn’t fancy the idea ofย a ‘pointy bit’, which is how it seems it would have turned out from the instructions (there was no picture) but the adaptation worked just fine, so that’s how my socks will be done from now one.
So – here is the finished item – looking jazzy on my big fat foot LOL
When they are both done, I will add some liquid rubber stuff to the bottom to turn them into non-slip slipper socks ๐
Love it!

Beautiful. I love homemade socks. My Grandmother knitted socks for me, until she couldn’t any longer ๐

Thanks ๐ The orange is a touch more neon than the photo shows. Not a colour I would normally go for, but as part of the mixture it works really well ๐

I’ll keep fingers crossed and lets all pray to the old gods that sock 2 matches sock 1.
Just curious, Is the top half of sock meant to look different to foot part ?

I noticed that on the photo too. It’s just the angles of it all on camera, I think. Plus the leg bit is stretched a little wheras the foot part isnt.

That is awesome! I love the colours! I suppose that can be the problem with making pairs of things they have to be identical or as near as! What a great idea using liquid rubber I have never heard of being able to buy it but I guess someone has to sell it to the manufacturers I would have never thought of that xx

Thank you ๐ This next sock I will keep a record of rows etc.
Once they are all done, I will post a link to the stuff I have, it’s specially for adding grip to socks. I found it when I made those first socks for my mum. It wasn’t cheap but it’s worth it to prevent an accident. God knows it’s easy enough to fall over as it is lol

Thank you ๐ I have had that wool (yarn) in my ebay watch list for months LOL, so socks gave me a great excuse….ahem….reason to buy it ๐

A very good reason! ๐

That is really good. It is much quicker than working on 5 needles. I am back finishing off my mother’s socks, as i had to order more wool, as in my brain dead head i managed to throw away that scrappy bit of the end of the ball which would have been just enough to finish the white bit off – grr. Yes the problem with socks is that you have to knit two ๐

I need to get started on number two as well, but I’m feeling anxious about it LOL as it has to be extra good as I’m taking photos for the tutorial. I can’t believe there is so little info on loom socks out there in on the interwebs!

I have never heard of them myself, but they certainly seem to knit up quicker than needles.

It looks amazing! How easy is the sock loom to use? I might have to get one and give it a try โบ๏ธ

It’s a lot easier than knitting in some ways ๐ Ebay have unbranded ones for a couple of quid from China or 6.99 from a UK seller. They look to be identical but obviously the one from China (which is also free postage) will take 2-4 wks to get here. But by then my tutorial will be all sorted ๐

Thank you ๐ I have rainbows on my curtains but they’re pastel. But with socks you can be as bright as you like ๐

I am about 3/4 of the way through it. Although I think I have done something different with this sock to the one pictured, and I won’t know until I am finished, and I might have to make a third so I can finish the tutorial and get it right ๐ฆ I am very annoyed with myself, I can tell you.
How many pegs has the loom you have ordered got? It would be good to know so I can adjust the tutorial if needed xx

I will have to wait until I have it, but I believe it is adjustable. I will look it up and let you know. And don’t be so hard on yourself. You did an amazing job on the first sock – and tutorials can always be revised. I know that it will be a great help for me when I start. ๐

Oooh, those adjustable ones are slightly different. I got one for my birthday last month, and the pegs allow for a much finer gauge. The principle is still the same tho, but you might have to do one as a ‘test sock’ to see how it comes out size-wise.

I couldn’t find one like yours or I would have gotten that. But do your tutorial your way – I make my own crochet patterns and adapt recipes so I should be able to make it work.
