You Know It’s Spring…..

When your cats bring their toys home…..

in the middle of the night…..

Yep – twice in one night we had to rescue mice that one of the cats brought home. One was a very cute little field mouse which was returned to a nearby field at midnight by Littlun and fiance wearing pj’s under their coats 😀

As the other one had been deposited inside the cardboard scratching box thing that’s in my room, and all the feline activity woke me up at 3 am, it only got deposited on the other side of the garden fence.

Which cat is responsible, we do not know. But they all took a good long while afterwards to realise their furry little playthings were no longer where they last saw them *rolls eyes*

We’ll know it’s summer when we wake up to a feather filled kitchen *sigh*

Oh cats are the worst at present bringing! I am awaiting the day Otis brings back diamonds and truffles!
Jackson brings back field mice and birds, where as Otis is a little more adventurous, as well as still alive and unharmed mice (Just rather soggy!) dropped in the living room or in our laps, he likes to bring back live frogs. He once brought back a mole… they make some awful racket when frightened, me and Jonathan had to run into the back garden scantily clad in the early hours to rescue a (literally) screaming mole! We had no idea what was going on until we got there, but couldn’t help being a little impressed that our kitten had caught a mole! He still doesn’t kill things now … he gets Jackson to do the dirty deed! *Shudder*

I had no idea moles could scream! Bless it. I am always amazed at how gently they carry them home because cat’s teeth are designed for tearing into prey. At least it’s not worms. We once had a cat who only caught worms *shudder*
Diamonds and truffles! pmsl If only! 🙂

Well I have to say it, your cats are ‘under performing’ they should have played then killed the prey like ours do.

It could be that this was just a warm-up for the coming season, pd. A ‘friendly game’ as it were.
I must admit, I am in 2 minds about it, because on the one hand I want them to have a more raw diet, and catching their own would help that, and keep the mouse population down so they don’t move into the shed (or worse, the house) But the animal lover in me feels sad for the ickle creatures they catch.

You know it’s spring when the cat doesn’t even come home at night 🙂 but then brings his buddies home for breakfast 🙂 oh yes, Jasper does it often.
