It’s a Funny Old Day Today

After a mere 3 hours sleep in almost almost 48, I did manage to sleep 9 hours solid. But between 3.30 am and 12.30pm *sigh*.

My GP refuses to prescribe zopiclone because – I had a months supply at the beginning of January, and it’s in my notes that I was getting 7 hrs a night last October. FFS!!! But really, I am not posting to rant.

It’s just a funny old, strange old day today. Outside it is overcast with a cold wind, and it’s very quiet in the close; no children out playing, no dog barking across the way, no cars coming or going.

Indoors, however, is a hive of activity as 2 members of the family prepare for 2 weeks working away. The washer and dryer are doing overtime. But much hilarity, and a little chaos, was had when the door to the loft was opened to retrieve suitcases and Mitch felt it his divine right to go and explore the loft. Normally quiet Mitch loudly verbalised his frustration when his attempts were thwarted, and he then laid along a step in the middle of the stairs, refusing to move, huffing at reprimands and attacking any feet that attemtped to gently nudge him out the way.

The geckos have been cleaned out, Morio worms *shudder* dispensed into pots ready for my eldest to feed them at intervals over the fortnight. My eldest has to do it, because I cannot stand those disgusting looking things – the worms, not the geckos 😛  It could be I am a coward – but have you ever seen one of those things? ick ick ick!!

Zoe is in a mooching mood today. She doesn’t like this type of weather. She goes from windowledge to windowledge hoping it will have warmed and brightened up enough for her to go outside, and when that fails, she retreats to the top of the wardrobe in my room and gazes out the window from there.

I have spent most of the afternoon doing admin type tasks online and over the phone with household stuff, and getting frustrated at overly complicated processes and procedures. And spending quiet, cuddly time with my Littlun, who after having allergy skin tests a week ago is suffering with the eczema on her hands, and in the middle of a horrible chesty cold on the eve of a day of travelling by train and coach followed by a solid fortnight of 10 hour days. The air of busy preparation is tinged with reluctance. Occasionally I can hear one of them zap the other with a sonic screwdriver LOL

But I wanted to share a couple of pics with you. Because they make me smile 🙂 Hopefully they will make you smile too.

I can understand GP reasons but it sounds ridiculous a GP refusing to supply more when patient cant sleep

People have become addicted to them apparently. Thing is, 28 days supply isnt quite long enough to form a lasting sleeping pattern (not for me, anyway) and it only takes one night of disturbed sleep (and with FM that can either be not being able to get to sleep, waking up at intervals, or sleeping too long) for any pattern I might have had to get well and truly fucked up again. So the fact that I got a few nights of 7 hours 5 months ago is totally irrelevant!!
I can’t take the 5htp because they started to make my heart race.
Ha – maybe I should try alcohol. Because that’s the only thing I HAVENT tried.

Mitch is very handsome indeed! I love your postcard. I wish I could do things like that; however, the FM and arthritis have really mucked up my hands and I can’t hold a pen or anything similar in my hand for very long. As for the Zopiclone, my father was in his last few months and had taken a sleeping pill every night for probably 50 of his 87 years! He took one pill every night and went to sleep. He never had to take more, but if he didn’t have it, he wouldn’t sleep.

In his last hospital visit he was complaining to me that he couldn’t sleep. His eyesight was very bad and he couldn’t really see his night pills in the dimmed light. I went to the nurse and found out they stopped his sleeping pill because he could be addicted to them! He wasn’t, but what would it matter if he did – he was dying of CPOD!!!

Sorry for the rant, but I just don’t understand doctors doing this to patients.

{{{{{hugs}}}}} my friend. I hope you get a good sleep.

Your poor dad! That is an awful thing to do to someone in that situation 😦
I am going to go back and have another go, maybe see a different doctor.
Thank you 🙂 I’m suffering with my right hand a bit today, I must admit. It seems to be just like everything else with FM – little and often xx

Yes i use my colouring book as a distraction when my brain is in hyper-drive. Sleep is an odd thing, we need it, but struggle to get enough of the right sort.
