Rory…….and Other Stuff

It was Rory’s check up on Wednesday, and even though the abcess in her mouth is much improved, it is still swollen so she has another 10 days of antibiotics.

Dental surgery is still on the cards but the vet will review it in April when we go for a weigh in.

Unfortunately, despite cutting out treats and feeding “light” cat food, Rory has actually gained weight *heavy sigh*.

I discussed our plan to introduce a raw diet and the vet was quick to caution us on the pre-made “raw” diet foods you can buy as they have had animals present with all kinds of problems on those diets.

Thankfully I dont count pre-made as “raw” – how can it be?

We have whole heart, chicken livers and raw chicken wings ready to start introducing now we know her gum is definitely better, but as it could be a long process we are having to use the prescription diet food instead of the ‘light’ stuff. Thankfully I can get it online which works out cheaper. But its still a big chunk of cash in one go.

Rory is much better in herself and it makes me wonder how long she was feeling poorly 😥  😥  😥  I feel really bad about not noticing sooner 😦

She’s playing a lot more, having great fun chasing the laser dot (its her favourite) which is also great exercise for her.  And while she’s gradually accepting that she cant have treats anymore, both her and Zoe come and stare at me each morning for their daily condition ‘pill’.

I’ve not been myself this week. I had a couple of sleepy and painful days after my activity last weekend but I’ve felt generally out of sorts as though I’m fighting off a bug. I’m either too hot or feeling chilled. I’ve also been feeling anti-social and today I have had the added joy of painfull eyeballs O_o

But it’s not all gloomy. It’s my Littlun’s birthday tomorrow. She’s 24  😀 😀 😀

There will be gifts and love and cake!! 😀 😀 😀

  4. Good that Rory is on the right way. One of my boys needed a working diet just before we should relocate to Spain because the flight company had a maximum weight for cats, when they should follow me insight the flight. I had both by my feet’s. My vet had some special diet food as I needed to weigh and don’t give him more. It worked, but my cats were not happy. I have also used Light food before, but they did just eat more.

It’s not easy, is it? But its reassuring to know the diet food works 🙂

      • Yes it works, my boy needed to go down 800 grams in 10 days, which were a lot. The maximum weight included the transport box were 8 kg, otherwise he should be another place down the flight. The worst were that they did not weigh him in the airport after the weight loss, so sad for the cat.

Oh blimey! After all that, they didnt even weigh him! Thats mad.
My cats cry constantly on car journeys, I cant imagine what they’d be like in a plane. It must be really scary for them.

          • To avoid them to be so scared I decided to pay extra for them to be able to stay beside me all the way. And they were only used to drive in a car, when I had a movement or visits at the vet. That day first a car, then train, flight and then a car again. They were very tired, when we arrived at the destination in Spain. But now they enjoy the much better weather here 🙂

Glad to hear Rory is feeling better. Don’t beat yourself up that you didn’t notice she was sick before – animals are good at hiding these things.
Mmm cake – you enjoy it!

Thank you – I’m trying not to. She’s having a great time playing which is really good to see.
The cake does look yummy. It says “serves 20” LMAO its just a normal sized cake!! 20 very tiny people who hate cake, perhaps! 😛
