WordPress…..Tell Me Why…

I am not seeing the posts of blogs that I follow in my reader.

It is VERY annoying and VERY frustrating!!!

When I have the reader on the pre-set “Blogs I follow” I expect to see exactly that – the posts of the blogs I follow ffs!!!

I’m not impressed that you seem to pick and choose on my behalf. I already did that when I followed the blogs.

Is anybody else having this problem?

Its been going on for a while now.

Please sort it out WordPress

I haven’t noticed a problem myself but then I have no way to tell if people I follow posted anything unless it’s in the reader so I probably wouldn’t notice even if there was a probelm lol

  2. First of all, where do you read from? If it s at the PC it can be very mixed up. From tablet or phone, Andriod, we only get to see around the last 20 posts in the Reader. This disturb me too, because I do follow many but don’t see much.

  6. Check your tagging and categories. In WordPress you are allowed a combined total of 15. Any more and you are kicked out of the reader and only are in followers. If your categories are unusual; In WordPress ‘Cats’ is a category, ‘Cats with hats on’ may not be recognized and the same thing happens.
This is one of the most common problems on WP. When in doubt, look up a category or tag and see what you get. It will also help your viability overall.

Do you mean the tags that you can search for in the reader?
I know you can only have 13 tags on any post that you publish.
In my reader I have “blogs that I follow” then there are other tags/categories that I use to search via the reader – cats is one of them lol.
I’m off to count how many i have used in the reader, hold on.

      • Actually the best gauge is to go to Recommended blogs. It’s a good way to find trending categories. But yes the tags in the reader is best. The rule of thumb is 3 categories and 12 tags. With that you can’t go wrong. You confuse the reader if you start making up tags or categories. Here is a test. Go to of your posts and click on each of the tags and categories. See what comes up. If the only thing is you, then you’ve wasted one.

There’s 22 including the other default ones of freshly pressed, posts I like, etc.
But surely it shouldnt matter how a blogger tags their posts. If I follow them, each post they publish should show up under “blogs I follow”.

The problems I’ve noticed are that sometimes only six posts show up in my reader on my PC and sometimes I find I’m not following people that I know darn well I was following before. The glitches are so frustrating. I hope you can get it sorted out.

I mostly read from the app on my phone and some blogs I see every post, others its like they just havent posted in weeks – but they have.
I have had same issue as you with the reader on my laptop as well. It can also tell you no more posts available when you know that cant be true.
But suddenly finding you arent following people anymore – that is infuriating!!
These have to be glitches that WP can fix!!
I think I will venture into the forums tomorrow and see if I can get a response from WP about it xx

If there is anyone specific you can think of that you havent seen in a while, go directly to their blog to see. Its a real hassle I know. And it would be impossible to do it for every blog but it’ll let you know if you’re having the same problem.

I have the same exact problem! I even went to the blogs I follow and went to each one from the “Blogs I Follow” under edit and “liked” one thinking that would “refresh” it somehow and did not work.
Also, another blogger I follow did a post on this as well. Saying they depended on the Reader to keep up on the blogs, as did not want an overflow of emails, as following so many.
I cannot figure it out either. Although, your blog is showing up in mine now. I have NO idea, why some do and some do not. No clue. It is soo frustrating. I have tried it all to fix it as well.
Not sure if it matters how often they blog. That was my only thought, but then you said you checked and had missed some. I am going with a WP issue.
    GRrrrrrrr…….

I unfollowed and then re-followed a couple but it didnt make any difference either.
I had wondered if it was to do with the frequency of posting as well. But if it is, then the logic is lost on me.
Nor are they getting that right either. I follow opinionated man and he posts LOTS lol but sometimes it shows a post of his that then disappears the next time I open the reader, which can be only minutes later if I leave it to reply to a comment!!!
And why your comment had to wait for me to moderate it CC, I have no idea o_O

haha! I know I got a complex the first time that started to happen to me…then I read somewhere else the WP moderator was messing up…hahaha..I have no idea why that is happening, unless it is bc I added Alex as an admin so it has a new email on there so like a “new” person on the blog all of a sudden making a new comment for the first time every time I comment…other than that if it keeps happening..no clue..LOL!! but yeah…I got a little weirded out… the whole thing has me laughing now… 🙂 if it were not kind of frustrating.. 😉

I have never found the app to work so when on my iPad i still use the Internet as the app doesn’t let me post it keeps saying I need to put in verification code which I do and I make sure it’s a new one and it just keeps asking for it so I gave up!

  11. vpark3 says:

Yeah you only get 6 verification codes and once you’ve used them all you need to generate more its a total hassle which is why I gave up! Lol hope you get it sorted though as that must be very frustrating!

Oh my gosh this drives me nuts!!! I wish it had a “memory” and at least had all posts from your favorite bloggers– or you could make them favorites so they always show up! I don’t like a gazillion emails, so I really depend on the reader.

Yes i get this problem from time to time, but no idea why. I tend to go into my follow list and edit when i receive posts from that particular person/blog and that normally solves it, at least for a while. I have notice it happen when either i make changed to my site or someone else makes changes to theirs or if the other person hasn’t sent out a new post for several weeks.
